| These are exciting times at United Way!As you know, United Way plays a vital role in
meeting the critical needs of our community each and every day. We are here to
advance the common good and improve the quality of life for people throughout the
area by focusing on the building blocks for a good life - health, income and education.
Last year we provided critical funding to thirty-two partner agencies that provide
programs and services to advance these goals.
Yet, as times change, so does the United Way. Following a national movement of
United Ways across the country, we are transitioning to a Community Impact business
model that will allow us to invest in our community more effectively and efficiently. It will allow us to concentrate on addressing issues that have been determined as most critical by our communities in Greenbrier, Monroe and Pocahontas Counties. Our resources will be directed to programs and services that address these issues and can be measured for accountability.
In the midst of this change, United Way will continue to support our other community initiatives including Born Learning (early childhood education), Warming Hands and Hearts (home heating emergency assistance), Familywize Prescription Drug Discount card, and Day of Caring in which we partner with WVSOM and Generation Greenbrier
for a day of volunteering.
Our transition to the Community Impact model is fully under way and we are progressing towards our goal of mobilizing the caring power of our community to improve lives. In giving to the United Way you are investing in your community.
Thank you for your continued support. With your help we can truly “Live United” and make our community a better place for all to live.
